Crime Stoppers Announce First Responder Scholarships at MCC

CRIME STOPPERS OFFERS $1000 FIRST RESPONDERS SCHOLARSHIP AT MCC Police, Fire and EMT Students Eligible.

Rochester, New York, September 4, 2019: Applications are being accepted at Monroe Community College for the Rochester Area Crime Stoppers $1000 First Responders Scholarship. Full-time students enrolled in Law and Criminal Justice; Fire Protection Technology; or Emergency Services Training are eligible to apply. The $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a student in each of the three disciplines.

A selection committee comprised of Crime Stoppers board members and Monroe Community College professors will select the award recipients in each discipline.

This is the third year that the scholarship is being offered through a partnership with the Monroe Community College Foundation.

“The generous support from the MCC Foundation allows us to offer a unique and much-needed award,” said Paul Hawkins, Crime Stoppers Chairperson.  “It is a true First Responders Scholarship in that it covers all three disciplines -- police, fire and EMT-- the first of its kind at the college.”

Application deadline is October 31, 2019.  Interested students are encouraged to apply on-line at www.monroecc.edu or contact their Monroe Community College advisor or professor.

Proceeds from the ASIS Rochester Golf Tournament helped to sponsor these scholarships.
