2019 Recap – Message from Chapter Chairperson

The year 2019 was an overwhelming success for the chapter. We remained focused on monthly meetings, brought in engaging and informative speakers, blended a mix of lunch and dinner meetings, welcomed 7 new members, and greatly increased attendance. Additionally we overhauled our website and implemented a chapter management system called Star Chapter to help with member management, meetings, communications, website, and payments/processing. I am also pleased to report we improved our financial solvency. We ended 2019 with positive account balances totaling almost $5000 in our operating fund, golf tournament fund, and savings accounts.

In 2019 we again collaborated with the Rochester Area Crime Stoppers, (R.A.C.S.) providing support from our golf outing proceeds, for the Crime Stoppers initiative to supply 3 first responder $ 1000 scholarship for local students.  This is the second year we worked with R.A.C.S. and provided $2500 each year for the scholarships.  The students receiving the scholarships are local so our ASIS Chapter support will pay dividends to the Rochester community for years to come. Thank you for your support.

On a personal note, as I enter by 40th consecutive year as a member of ASIS, I have to recognize the enviable certainty that I will retire….someday. I am beginning that transition with the assistance of my fellow ASIS Chapter Officers.   For the year 2020 we will have co-chairpersons, Barb Wood, who served as the chapter secretary for the past two years, and did an OUTSTANDING job, will join me as chapter co-chairperson.   She is responsible for most of our success.  Joe Giorgione is stepping down as chapter vice-chairperson but is transitioning this role to Victor Wainwright. Joe will continue as a Chapter Advisor. Josh Phillips has assumed the role of chapter secretary and Angelo Caruso will continue as the chapter treasurer.

We have some exciting meetings planned for later in the year.  I hope to see you all as the year progresses, and as always, I appreciate you support and friendship.
