ASIS Rochester congratulates Mark Ryckman - our latest member to achieve the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) certification.

Mark L. Ryckman, CPP, is the City Manager and Director of Public Safety for the City of Corning, New York, where he oversees municipal operations and provides executive leadership for the City’s Police and Fire Departments. With nearly 30 years of local government management experience, he has led major public safety and security initiatives, including the implementation of new technologies such as body-worn cameras, license plate readers, upgraded surveillance systems, and modernized operational policies and procedures.

Mark also serves at the national level on public safety communications and critical infrastructure issues as a member of the Executive Committee of the FirstNet Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC), representing the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). He has spoken at national conferences and published in professional and trade publications on public safety governance, communications, and emerging technology challenges.

He holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and recently earned the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation through ASIS International.

Mark provides the following advice to fellow ASIS members. "Preparing for and attaining the CPP designation has strengthened my ability to apply risk management best practices in public safety and local government leadership. It highlights the value of integrating physical security, emergency preparedness, and organizational resilience in protecting both the community and the workforce.”
